I wrote a note a few years ago that began with “Good morning, Elijah!”
For some reason that always stuck with me. It was like saying “Good morning” to the deeper understanding of “the Lord is my God.” In a way, “Good morning” to “God, my Father.” It is opening our eyes and our hearts to explore the fullness of that truth.
I recently discovered its idiomatic meaning in Jewish culture: “Where have you been?” or “Welcome to the present!” or in American culture, “Welcome to the party!”
Elijah’s Corner comes at faith and life from that perspective. The ever growing revelation of the intimacy of the Lord as my God and my Father… and my father!
The Christian calling never loses its power or purpose… “To know Him and make Him known.”
As Jesus said to the Apostle Paul when he called him out of darkness and gave him life and light.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1: 1-5)
I am sending you to them to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me. (Acts 26:17-18)
